Use the current credential name
PMI introduced PMI Certified Professional in Managing AI in September 2025, replacing the earlier CPMAI v7 credential route. Old course notes and candidate discussions can still be useful background, but their examination details should not be assumed to describe the current appointment. Identify the actual certification product you are purchasing.
This matters when a provider advertises a legacy name or an older question count. Compare the course, exam outline and booking confirmation. Keep a short version record so that every practice resource is evaluated against the same current scope.
Know the examination boundary
PMI’s current programme page lists 120 questions and 160 minutes and describes a 21-hour preparation course. The Exam Content Outline is the authority for assessed responsibilities and the certification process. Course completion and confidence with AI tools are different from being able to reason through project decisions.
Before studying, turn outline responsibilities into questions you can answer. What evidence supports the business case? What data is missing? How will evaluation detect an unacceptable failure? Who owns the deployed service? The answers should connect to decisions rather than definitions alone.
Build a four-stage learning sequence
First, map the lifecycle and the business problem. Second, practise data and model discussions using a synthetic project. Third, create evaluation and operational artefacts. Fourth, use fresh scenario questions to locate weak reasoning. Allocate study sessions according to your baseline rather than promising a universal number of days.
For an illustrative eight-session plan, spend two sessions on the outcome and lifecycle, two on data and development, two on evaluation and operation, and two on mixed review. Add further sessions where you cannot explain a decision without looking at notes.
Reason through scenario questions
Identify the actor, the current phase, the decision requested and the evidence provided. A model-performance problem may originate in data definitions or business acceptance criteria. Avoid choosing a sophisticated technical intervention merely because it sounds advanced. Ask whether it addresses the actual cause.
For multiple-response practice, evaluate each option independently against the stated requirement, then check whether the selected combination is coherent. Do not assume every question uses the same number of correct answers. Follow the instructions displayed for the actual item rather than a technique learned from unofficial recollections.
Maintain an error log with explanations
For each missed practice item, record the concept, your mistaken assumption and the evidence that would support the correct action. Then create a different example that tests the same reasoning. This distinguishes learning from remembering the wording of a question you have already seen.
Use authorised materials and original exercises. Claims that a file contains the current real examination should be treated as a reason to avoid it, not as a preparation shortcut. Recalled questions can be outdated, inaccurate and inconsistent with examination confidentiality.
Final readiness checks
You are better prepared when you can explain the lifecycle using an unfamiliar AI project and identify when the team should return to earlier work. Rehearse the appointment’s technical and identity requirements separately from content study so that avoidable setup issues do not consume attention.
If your materials conflict, resolve the conflict against current PMI information before booking. A practice score is a diagnostic, not a guarantee of passing. Use the last sessions to address weak decisions, rest and confirm the current appointment rules rather than adding an unverified collection of last-minute answers.
