Read the current route before choosing a code

Baidu’s official examination information distinguishes BAI-440 introductory AI marketing from intermediate study: BAI-220 general skills plus a chosen specialism in search, information-feed or brand marketing. The specialisms use BAI-221, BAI-222 and BAI-223 respectively. Calling BAI-440 “general skills” can therefore send a candidate toward the wrong level.

A November 2025 change introduced level-based voucher purchasing. Existing voucher treatment is explained on Pearson VUE’s Baidu page; confirm that your voucher and selected appointment match. The page also announces OnVUE availability from August 2026, so older blanket statements that every candidate must attend a mainland testing centre should not be repeated. Check actual eligibility and availability for your location before buying.

BAI-440: build the introductory foundation

Baidu’s learning site publishes a 2026 Q2 introductory-course update. A Q1 update mentioned in older notices is not the last word on preparation. Start from the current course and examination information linked by the issuer, noting the date and level. Do not assume that any course containing “AI marketing” is the required version.

For an original practice case, imagine a Chinese-language specialist travel business promoting a new regional tour. Write the audience, business objective, offer, approved factual claims and brand constraints. Identify where AI can support research, content development and customer communication. Keep a human reviewer responsible for accuracy, suitability and release of every customer-facing claim.

BAI-220: translate the business problem into a decision

General skills preparation should connect a commercial objective to a plan. For the travel case, “more clicks” is an activity measure; “qualified enquiries for the tour” is closer to the business need. Define what qualifies an enquiry, how it will be recorded and when the sales team will supply feedback on quality.

Practise prompting with an explicit audience, source facts, desired format and constraints. Ask for several distinct advertising angles without invented discounts or unsupported safety claims. Evaluate the responses against the brief. Keep a revision log explaining why a prompt changed and what improved; do not mistake fluent Chinese copy for verified campaign strategy.

BAI-221: search intent and conversion quality

For the search specialism, classify fictional searches into research, comparison and booking intent. Map each group to a suitable message and landing-page response. A broad query about a destination may need useful information, while a specific departure-date query may need availability and a clear next step. Avoid claiming that one message serves every intent equally well.

Create a review sheet connecting query group, advertisement promise, page content and enquiry outcome. If clicks increase but qualified enquiries decline, inspect intent matching and the post-click experience before proposing a larger budget. Evaluate costs against verified business outcomes rather than announcing a universal return-on-investment target or treating platform attribution as the full customer journey.

BAI-222: native information-feed creative and optimisation

For the feed specialism, design three concepts suited to the same approved offer: an itinerary explanation, a customer-question response and a destination story. State which audience need each concept addresses. Make the content useful in its viewing context and ensure that advertising remains identifiable under the applicable platform requirements.

Build a test plan with one principal difference between variants. Track attention measures alongside enquiry quality and subsequent sales feedback. A creative that attracts curiosity can perform poorly for the actual business goal. Before optimising, inspect whether the tracking event fires correctly and whether duplicate or irrelevant enquiries inflate the apparent success of a variant.

BAI-223: brand meaning and the trust distinction

For brand preparation, define the desired audience association, consistent message and evidence supporting the offer. Plan how search content, feed activity and the landing experience reinforce that meaning. Explain the role of reach, understanding and subsequent action without claiming that every brand campaign must deliver an immediate direct sale.

A person’s professional certification and a business’s platform verification or trust marker serve different purposes. Passing an individual marketing examination does not authenticate a company, establish its legal status or grant a consumer-protection badge. When discussing V-Cert or another business trust scheme, inspect that scheme’s own current rules separately; do not imply equivalence from the shared word “certification.”

Plan study around artefacts and the full credential route

Organise preparation into foundation review, general-skills decisions, specialist practice and a final integrated case. Produce the campaign brief first, then the prompt log, search map, creative experiment or brand plan for your chosen route. Use official learning and permitted practice resources to check gaps. Avoid relying on third-party promises of guaranteed results.

Pearson VUE’s current Baidu guidance identifies eligible intermediate candidates as holders of a BCAIMC introductory certificate that remains valid or is within its six-month post-expiry buffer, or people renewing a BCSMC intermediate certificate within that buffer. The route requires passing BAI-220 plus one specialist examination, with no more than one year between the two examinations. A specialist pass alone therefore does not complete the credential. Check the issuer’s certificate-generation rules for your existing award and reconfirm the selected subject, delivery method, identification and voucher terms before booking.

Decide whether the investment fits your career

These tracks are most relevant when your work uses Baidu’s marketing ecosystem and the language and operational context of the intended market. Search specialists, creative-performance teams and brand strategists can need different evidence. Choose the specialism that matches decisions you will actually make rather than collecting codes without an application.

Present the fictional campaign as a practice project, or use authorised and anonymised real results with their measurement limits. Do not promise a salary increase, a job or a fixed campaign return from certification alone. A defensible portfolio explains the objective, audience, creative choices, measurement problems and changes you would make after receiving evidence.
