Separate a useful skill from an available exam
Older manufacturing study material can still help you understand production processes, but it is not evidence that the named exam remains bookable. Microsoft lists the Supply Chain Management Functional Consultant Expert credential associated with MB-335 as retired on 30 June 2026. MB-320 is also a legacy exam route. New candidates should choose from the current catalogue instead of buying an exam package on the strength of an old title.
Keep the manufacturing process connected
A useful continuing-skills project is a small make-to-order assembly. Describe the product structure, components, operations, resources and delivery promise before configuring anything. Follow the order from material demand through production and finished stock. Distinguish a bill of materials from the route describing how work is performed. An incomplete route or inaccurate resource assumption can make a plan look feasible while the shop floor cannot deliver it.
Practise planning and constraint changes
Change one component lead time, then one capacity assumption. Predict whether the impact is material availability, scheduling or cost before looking at the result. Capture the before-and-after process in a short decision note. This suggested exercise develops expert-level reasoning without pretending to reproduce retired exam questions. For an actual manufacturer, planners and production owners must approve the assumptions and validate the result before deployment.
Evaluate licensing and lab access before paying
Finance and operations practice environments may depend on an authorised organisation subscription, trial eligibility or a training provider’s lab arrangement. Ask the provider exactly which environment is included, for how long, which functions you may change and whether you can retain non-sensitive exercises. Do not assume every Microsoft Learn module supplies a free production-like environment. Avoid sharing accounts or using a customer tenant as an unrestricted training lab.
Convert old material into a current study map
List each MB-320 or MB-335 resource with its publication date and technology assumptions. Compare the topics with the active role and current product documentation. Keep transferable manufacturing exercises; retire instructions that rely on unavailable features, interfaces or exam prerequisites. If an active associate-level supply-chain route matches your work, use its current guide to define missing breadth. Do not describe an adjacent AI-focused credential as a direct equivalent without checking its actual objectives.
What should an existing holder do?
Use your Microsoft Learn transcript to represent the credential’s status accurately. A retired credential may remain active until its recorded expiry under Microsoft’s policy, but that does not reopen the exam for new candidates. In applications, explain the manufacturing work you can perform and pair the historical credential with recent project evidence. The next action is a role-based learning decision, not a rush to book a retired test.
