Treat old CCAK guides as historical

The Certificate of Cloud Auditing Knowledge was developed by Cloud Security Alliance and ISACA to address vendor-neutral cloud auditing knowledge. A guide labelled 2024 cannot establish that an exam is currently available. On its CCAK page, CSA states that from 3 October 2025 the certificate was no longer available on the ISACA website and that CSA hoped to bring it back or help identify alternatives.

That statement is a reason to verify availability directly, not to infer a new exam date, replacement code or automatic migration. Do not buy a voucher on the basis of a reseller’s historical catalogue. Ask the issuer for the active registration pathway and applicable terms before spending money.

Separate learning value from registration

Older CCAK material can still introduce useful cloud assurance concepts, but its exam instructions and service references may have aged. Label the edition in your notes and cross-check technical or policy claims. Treat it as learning material rather than proof that you can still earn the same award.

If an employer requires CCAK specifically, explain the availability issue and ask which learning evidence or alternative credential it will accept. Do not silently substitute a different certificate while retaining the CCAK name on a training proposal or CV.

Build a shared-responsibility audit case

Consider a fictional organisation using a cloud-hosted customer application. Identify which controls the provider performs, which the customer performs and which require coordinated evidence. The scope changes with the service model: running a virtual machine is different from consuming an application service.

For each important risk, name the control owner and evidence needed. Customer access configuration may require direct review even when the provider has an assurance report. A provider report does not automatically cover the customer’s configuration, data handling or contractual obligations.

Evaluate provider assurance carefully

Read the scope, period and limitations of any assurance document used in an exercise. Identify excluded services and customer responsibilities. Ask whether the evidence aligns with the actual region, service and time period being assessed. A familiar provider logo does not make every workload equally covered.

Produce a short gap log: assertion, evidence received, remaining uncertainty and further work. For example, the document may support provider physical-security controls while leaving the customer’s privileged access review untested. Keep the conclusion proportional to the evidence rather than declaring the whole cloud environment compliant.

Consider current learning options

ISACA’s Cloud Fundamentals certificate addresses cloud principles, concepts, governance, security and support. That is a foundational scope, not an automatic one-for-one replacement for cloud audit preparation. Compare the published objectives with your current knowledge and your intended assurance responsibilities.

An existing auditor might combine current cloud fundamentals with a practical evidence-review project and CSA resources. A cloud engineer moving toward audit may need audit methodology and independence training. Select resources to close those gaps rather than assume that the nearest acronym is the best successor.

Keep a decision record

Before purchasing anything, save the program name, issuer statement, date checked, learning objective and booking link actually confirmed. If availability remains unclear, defer the exam purchase while continuing legitimate study. Use the issuer’s official contact route for questions rather than sharing sensitive account details with a reseller.

For interviews or internal development discussions, describe the learning completed and the case you produced accurately. Do not claim a certificate that has not been awarded. A transparent explanation of current availability and demonstrated cloud audit reasoning is more credible than an unsupported promise of a legacy exam booking.
